Installing lights around or on windows come christmas time is something that many people like to use in understated displays or to provide a centre piece as people come up towards your house. Using an item such as a star or a snowflake can really emit a traditional homely feel on your property or even by simply running fairy lights around the window edges. Run the lights around the inside frame starting with the bottom corner closest to the extension cord. If the wires match the woodwork the lights themselves will be more emphasized.

Dark woodwork requires darker wire. Attach the lights to the inside of the window frame using a staple gun. The hooks will have an adhesive on one side that you can attach to the outside or inside of your windows so the hooks stay in place. Rubber band tie any unneeded and definitely unsightly extra length of empty christmas light strand sections that commonly end up at both ends of the used christmas light strands.

Then across the bottom of the top window then down and across the top of the bottom window then down again working your way around the window. Write down the total perimeter for each window or door separately not counting the bottom of the door so you ll know how many strands of lights are needed for each window or door. Starting at the bottom right or left corner working your way up to the top of the windows. Put the light hooks 2 to 3 inches 5 1 to 7 6 cm apart around the windows.
