Assume you have a rectangular area such as a room and for example you want to calculate the square footage area for flooring or carpet.
How to work out floor area of a room.
For a square or rectangular room you will first need to measure the length and then the width of the room.
If the area is 100 square feet for example the radius is 5 64 feet.
If you re room is rectangular then simply enter the width and depth of the room and the unit of measure and the resulting floor area of the room will be calculated in several different units of measure both metric and imperial useful if you are meauring the room in one unit but for example the floor tiles you want are measured in a different unit.
If the room is 4 meters long and 3 meters wide its area is 4 meters 3 meters 12 square meters.
Then put the dimensions of each area in to the calcualtor if you re stuck on imperial as we are you can input in feet and inches and still get a square metres result then add the areas together.
Measure the length of your room.
Move any items or furniture in the way of your measuring tape.
Calculating the area of a room now that you know the room s length and width in meters you calculate its area using the formula length width area.
So if your room measures 11 feet wide x 15 feet long your total area will be 165 square feet.
Then multiply the length and width.
First multiply the length and breadth of that room to get the area total room floor area length of the room breadth of the room 4 m 3 m 12 m2.
To calculate the area of a room use the standard length x width area formula.
The way to calculate a rectangular area is by measuring the length and width of your area then multiplying those two numbers together to get the area in feet squared ft 2.
Use a tape measure and extend it from one wall to the parallel wall.
Length x width area.
To use our floor area calculator be sure to note down this number in either meters or feet.
This is important and will help you get the correct measurements.
Measure the maximum length and width at the widest points of the room.
